Rounder Backsides Are the Thing
- Posted on: Jun 15 2021
It doesn’t seem that long ago when supermodels all seemed to strive to look like heroin addicts. Kate Moss was the poster child, looking as if she existed on a daily diet of two rice cakes and a teaspoon of humus.
Uh, can you say unhealthy and a dumb body image for younger girls and women? Welcome anorexia and bulimia.
Fortunately, those days are long gone. Rounder, more realistic, figures are in. Today, the curves that make a woman a woman are celebrated, and that’s a good thing! Nowhere is this more evident than in the backside. Don’t agree? You can’t go very far without seeing the round backsides of Kim Kardashian, J-Lo, and Nicki Minaj.
If you’d like to add a little back there, Dr. Yates can help you out with a Brazilian Butt Lift. A Brazilian Butt Lift is designed to improve the fullness and firmness of the buttocks, and it does so using only your own fat transferred from an area you don’t want it.
What’s the difference between a Brazilian Butt Lift and butt augmentation?
A Brazilian Butt Lift is a form of butt augmentation, but it differs dramatically from augmentation with implants. In a Brazilian Butt Lift, a patient’s own fat is used for the augmentation. In implant augmentation, implants are surgically placed. In implant augmentation, the results are permanent, but sometimes implants can shift and require revision surgery. Dr. Yates doesn’t perform butt augmentation with implants. The consensus is that Brazilian Butt Lift augmentation delivers more natural-looking results. Plus, because Dr. Yates is using your own fat for the procedure, there is the added bonus of contouring where the fat is harvested. This can even accentuate your results if fat is taken from areas such as the flanks.
How is a Brazilian Butt Lift done?
With the patient under general anesthesia, Dr. Yates begins by harvesting fat from your abdomen, back, thighs, or other areas of the body that have excess fat. This is traditional liposuction. Small incisions are made. Local anesthesia is infused first, and a thin cannula is inserted and moved back and forth to loosen the fat pockets in the area. The cannula then suctions out the fat. Up to three times the amount of fat that will be re-injected may be harvested.
Next, the fat, tissue, and blood that were suctioned out are processed to separate the fat. The goal here is to purify the fat, so that there will be minimal re-absorption when it is reintroduced to the body.
Dr. Yates then takes the purified fat and re-injects it back into the buttocks through hundreds of small injections all over your buttocks. He does this at a variety of depths to ensure even augmentation. Special attention is given to the upper buttocks so that the entire bottom looks younger and naturally lifted.
How long do results take?
Results are immediately visible, but they keep improving with time because it takes some time for the fat to “take.” It can take a full year before a patient’s full results are visible. Over time, some of the initial volume from your fat grafting procedure will diminish. On average, patients retain 60 to 80% of the transferred fat, with the body absorbing the rest.
