Out of Town Patient Guide

Travel To Utah For Plastic Surgery

Plastic surgery in Utah has a national reputation for some of the best plastic surgeons in America, providing affordable plastic surgery pricing. Of Utah plastic surgeons, Dr. Yates is among the best choices in Utah for quality and safety and well worth the travel.

Out of Town Plastic Surgery Program

Dr. York Yates Plastic Surgery is a popular travel destination for cosmetic plastic surgery. Approximately 1/3 of our surgical patients travel from out of state. Most travel from adjacent states of Idaho and Wyoming as it is a reasonably short drive. Some fly from more distant states or even across the globe as far as Nigeria, Japan, Kuwait, Germany, the Netherlands, and Australia. We have operated on patients who have traveled from 6 of the 7 continents. If you are planning to travel to Utah for plastic surgery, it would be our honor to have you. Our world-class out-of-town surgical program is waiting for you.

Initial Consultation

As we offer thorough Virtual Consultations, many of our out-of-town patients can go from inquiry to surgery scheduled from the comfort of their home. Out-of-town patients who take advantage of our exhaustive website are well prepared and have most of their questions answered in advance. The virtual consultation can consist of emails, photos, or even a face-to-face video consultation with Dr. Yates. Our preference for most patients is to start with a private, secure, email virtual consultation, including pertinent details and photos.

Video Consultation

Patients who desire a face-to-face video virtual consultation with Dr. Yates can take advantage of our Symplast Patient App for a HIPPA secure video discussion.

Scheduling Surgery

It is possible to schedule surgery after your virtual consultation. Dr. Yates office staff can find a date for surgery that fits into your schedule. A $500 deposit is required to hold your surgical date, refundable if, after arrival, there are unforeseen complicating factors. Dr. Yates staff can provide you with a basic price quote at the time of your in-person consultation or online consultation. This quote may change slightly (rarely) if at the time of the examination, more or less than anticipated would need to be done.

Pre-op Appointment

For many of our out-of-town patients, the preoperative appointment is their first visit to the office. It requires a high degree of pre-planning, but for some patients, we can arrange this appointment the day before or the day of surgery.

Follow us on Facebook/Dr.YorkYates and Instagram for up to date information about happenings in our office that may affect your plans.

Surgery Day

If you have not been seen in consultation before the surgery date, we will see you on the morning of surgery (a few hours prior) to be sure there are no issues that need to be addressed. Any final lab work, such as a pregnancy test may be performed. You should bring comfortable clothes that are easy to remove and replace, such as sweat pants and a “hoodie” that zips up the front. You will need to have made hotel arrangements in advance and will need someone to accompany you that evening.

After Surgery Care

You will need to have arrangements for your care after surgery. Most patients bring a travel companion with them. If you are unable to have a travel companion, we can often help arrange overnight nursing care for you. These arrangements must be made in advance of your visit.

Follow-up Visits

Depending on the procedure, we may see you the following morning or before you travel home for a recheck. With our Symplast app, it is possible to do all of the followups online. Through the app, Dr. Yates is available to you 24/7 via secure text messaging. Follow up visits can be done through the messaging, photo sharing, or video features of the app. Of course, in-person appointments are available as well.
