The medical field understands the difference between a residency trained “plastic surgeon” and a “cosmetic surgeon”. Unfortunately, many patients don’t understand this distinction. It is out of control. Gynecologists, internists, ER doctors… everyone is claiming they are “cosmetic surgeons”. Most with little to no formal training. Patients are getting mislead, patients are getting deformed and killed.
In the USA today last week, there was a special series about plastic surgery. One of the articles was titled, “lack of training can be deadly in cosmetic surgery“.
