Your Burning Questions about a Booty Boost Answered

The tides are turning in 2015.  Breast augmentations have traditionally been at the top of the plastic surgery “most popular” list.  But on the heels of Kim Kardashian’s photo that nearly broke the internet, Brazilian Butt Lifts and buttock augmentations are quickly gaining ground in popularity.  We’re all in favor of women embracing and enhancing their curves, so we’ve assembled this list of most frequently asked questions about giving your backside a boost.

What is the difference between Brazilian Butt Lift or buttock implants?  A Brazilian Butt Lift, or BBL for short, is a procedure in which fat is harvested from one part of the body and transferred to the buttocks.  Buttocks augmentation, or buttock implants, is a procedure very much like a breast augmentation.  Artificial implants are used to enhance the size and shape of the buttocks.

How do I know if I’m a good candidate for the procedure?  Any candidate for a BBL or buttock augmentation needs to be in overall good health.  If you have a heart or lung condition, or are a smoker, these procedures might not be a good option for you.

Will I look like Kim Kardashian after my procedure?  No plastic surgeon can promise you’ll look like a celebrity.  Each body (and booty!) is different, and the outcome of the procedure depends on your individual physique.  It’s important to discuss your desired outcome so we can work together to define realistic expectations.

How long do the results from a BBL last?  Transferring fat between locations in the body is like moving between homes.  Fat is uprooted from one place in the body and placed into its new home.  Results vary, but we expect 50-80% of the fat transferred to its new home to survive, and the results are permanent.

What is recovery like? Recovery from any surgery varies by individual.  We typically suggest patients avoid sitting for the first 2 weeks after the procedure, and limit sitting for the first  2 months.
