Liposuction is a fantastic procedure if you think about it. Physically change your body shape for the better for the rest of your life by removing unwanted fat (while leaving beautiful fat behind) can create the curves you desire. If you have an area on your body— like your stomach, buttocks, or upper thighs— that feels like it’s storing fat that you just can’t lose, then it may be time for you to get liposuction.
During liposuction, Dr. Yates will surgically suction and remove fat from your body that isn’t responsive to diet and exercise. The results? A thinner, happier you. One of the things that many of our patients want to know is what they can expect from lipo recovery. Let’s take a closer look at a recovery timeline.
2-3 Days After Surgery:
This is the time in which most patients experience the most pain and discomfort, but it can usually be managed through pain medication. Typically, we will also encourage patients to wear a compression garment to help ease swelling. Make sure that you spend these first few days in bed recovering and not doing any physical activity.
1-2 Weeks After Surgery:
You may continue to feel a little bit of pain and discomfort for one to two weeks after surgery, but it should become lesser and lesser each day. You should be able to get back to work but should continue to refrain from strenuous activities still.
6 Weeks Post Surgery:
At six weeks, we tell patients that they can go back to all forms of physical activity. At this point, you can be more active, but your swelling and bruising will still be noticeable. Beautiful results but not a finished product.
Just like with any surgery, recovery results may vary from patient to patient, but for the most part, this is what you can expect.
