The hand consists of a complex arrangement of tendon, muscle, nerve, bone and soft tissue that work together as a functional unit. Given the amount and kind of use our hands are submitted to on a daily basis it is not surprising that hand problems frequently occur. These problems can arise from trauma, repetitive use injuries and developmental deformities.
All plastic surgeons undergo intensive training in hand surgery. Some plastic surgeons choose not to do hand surgery in their practice for a variety of reasons.
Dr. Yates completed an additional fellowship in microsurgery which makes him particularly equipped to skillfully tackle the small intricate details important in hand surgery.
