Tips on Recovery After Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation

After planning, finding a surgeon, getting a consultation, setting an appointment, and going through with the procedure, you’ve finally got the breast augmentation you wanted. Now it’s just time to go home and get to healing. With any surgical procedure, there is always going to be a critical recovery period. Your provider will send you home with information and resources to help. However, let’s take a closer look at some breast augmentation recovery tips you can be in the know.

Recovery Tips

Sleep On Your Back

Sleeping on your back is important during the first stages of recovery. Your chest is healing and doesn’t need any unnecessary pressure put on it. Pressure can inhibit the healing process and potentially damage tissue. You should not sleep on your stomach, and you should limit side sleeping as much as possible.

Stay Moving

You may not want to be active during this time, but it is a valuable part of healing. Light movements that avoid strain on your chest are best. Avoid lifting over 10 pounds and anything strenuous. Things like taking a walk or lightly biking can be beneficial to promote blood flow.

Bruising and Swelling

Bruising and swelling are bound to happen after a breast augmentation. It’s best to keep an eye on your bruising and report any severe bruising to your medical provider. Make sure to get plenty of rest, stay hydrated, and you can always use cold compresses to reduce swelling.

Choose a Good Bra

A bra may be provided to you by your medical provider. It is recommended to use that bra if possible. If not, do not wear a bra with an underwire or any kind of push-up bra. It’s best to wear something soft and supportive but not too firm.
