The midsection is integral to your overall shape. We all know this, but what we may be surprised by is how a problem such as laxity can make such an enormous difference in how we look. Abdominoplasty is a popular plastic surgery procedure that is performed to tighten muscle structure across the abdomen. It is sought by moms who want to reinstate a younger figure, and by men and women whose bodies have changed with weight loss and age.
While the reasons for undergoing the tummy tuck procedure are very personal for each patient, the matter of recovery may be handled similarly. Many people assume that they will be slightly uncomfortable for a few days, and will prepare themselves for recovery by scheduling a week or so off from work. If you want to make the most of your treatment process, we suggest a few steps for a better recovery:
- Make meal time easier. On an average day, you may do the cooking for yourself and your family. After surgery, this should not be the case. To minimize your responsibilities, make a list of local, healthy take-out that can be delivered to you. Also, stock up on healthy treats like yogurt, dried fruit and nuts, and fresh fruits and vegetables. Consider the value of pre-made meals, as well.
- Make your space more comfortable. Your usual pillows and blankets may be fine for now, but to make your recovery time more pleasant, add to your current collection with soft, warm, welcoming bedding that you can take from one room to another. If you will spend most of your time in the bedroom, that is even more reason to acquire cozy accoutrements.
- Stave off boredom. Most of us go from one important activity to another throughout our days. During recovery, you should not be answering work emails or taking calls. You should not be attending to the children or the pets. Without these responsibilities, you could find yourself dripping into boredom. Avoid this with a few good books, your favorite music, and movies that can keep your mind busy during days that seem longer than usual.
