Emily, sorry for the late reply. This was tucked in a spam folder.

By now you have certainly found your solution but for others that may have the same questions, 1) The bra is not that important in healing. It should not push the implants out of position, particularly with underwire. 2) The Victoria's Secret bra's with underwire removed are just fine. Padding should be unnecessary. 3) The band size will likely be the same as before surgery depending on which bra you buy.

The best advice is to follow your individual surgeons instructions. He/she knows the specifics of your procedure.

The NSAIDs (such as Ibuprofen , Motrin , Aleve , etc.) are most beneficial in cases of acute pain , or flare-ups in patients with chronic pain. NSAIDs are excellent at treating inflammatory conditions including tendonitis, bursitis, and arthritis. In general, NSAID use is limited for patients with chronic pain because of concerns about the development to stomach problems. While the newer, so-called COX-2 inhibitors, such as Celebrex , were designed to avoid this complication, caution should still be used when using these medications for long periods of time.

Hello Dr Yates! I have a few questions regarding my second breast augmentation surgery. I plan on having my surgery before summer but I have some concerns. Right now I have 425 saline implants; my right breast is filled to 500 and my left is filled to 475 (because of the size difference). I want to switch to silicone and go much larger. I know you are a more conservative doctor but I do not want to look “natural”. I would like to a 700 – 800 cc high profile silicone implants. My main question is… I understand that the larger I go the more “out” my breast will go. (I would like to avoid this) I also understand the risks of them sagging in the future. I have heard (and seen) great results from a doctor three of my friends have gone to that has hollowed their chest muscles out more to allow the implant to sit higher, and placed sutures on the side/bottom of the breast and used their muscle tissue to provide a lifted affect on their large implants. All three of my friends have had such great results! I was hoping you did this kind of procedure. I have already had a consultation with you and you used the 3D imaging machine on me. Can you take a look at my pics and tell me if this is something you can do?
Thank you for your time,
Lindsay Miner

Hello! I just had a bilateral augmentation with a lift on the right breast to fix a case of Polands syndrome that I had. Surgery was Monday, December 19, 2011. The $75 dollar bra you have posted as an alternative is beautiful, however it is a tad expensive. Victoria's Secret has their semi annual sale right now and (approved by my surgeon by the way) I should be fine if I find a supportive bra if i can take out the under wire right? Also, does supportive mean just a little padding in the cup? Will my band size be comprabale to the pre op size that I was, after swelling goes down? Sorry for bombarding you with so many questions, but your website has been very helpful so far! Happy holidays!

There are aspects of natural breast augmentation which are not fully understood. The risks have not been fully studied to this point.

Not necessarily, depending on the nature of the problem. See a board certified plastic surgeon or feel free to email me photos of what is bothering you and I will gladly give you an opinion.

Hi, While in training, it is possible to develop a network that will assist you in securing employment. This network should include attending physicians, residents that preceded you in the training program and contacts gained through conferences and meetings. Once you receive your board certification, you will be required to keep up your continuing education units in cosmetic or Plastische Chirurgie. Your certification is good for ten years at a time and to renew, the board requires 150 continuing education units during the three years prior to your license expiration.
