Salt Lake Plastic Surgery – Credentials Matter
While recently attending a conference, I met a doctor who was exploring the cosmetic market. His training was in ObGyn and he has likely delivered thousands of babies with a very high success rate in the New York area. Because of new insurance restrictions, and with greater government oversight on that type of medical care forthcoming, he started looking at ways to change his practice. He decided that a cosmetic practice was a good idea.
Problem: through the course of our discussion, he mentioned that 3 years ago, he had never even heard of liposuction. After a few weekend courses, and with the purchase of a machine he opened up a cosmetic surgery practice. My jaw about hit the ground. Unfortunately, with the changing landscape of medicine in the United States and here in Salt Lake City, UT – it is likely that we will see more and more of these undertrained Cosmetic Plastic Surgery Practices springing up. With a few weekend courses, and with relative lack of training in liposuction, tummy tucks, breast augmentations – doctors will open shop claiming Board Certification.
The governing group for medical boards in the United States is the American Board of Medical Specialities and the only board they recognize to perform these types of procedures are doctors certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Dr. York Yates, a Plastic Surgeon in Salt Lake City is Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. He takes his job seriously and has been through years of training to understand the intricacies involved in performing these procedures.
Please do your homework and understand what Board Certification really means. Contact Dr. York Yates to schedule your consultation today.

Salt Lake City Before and After Photos
It can be hard to imagine what kind of results any given plastic surgery procedure may be able of achieving for you. One of the best ways to help you imagine, is by looking at the results others have achieved. Most Plastic Surgeons offer online before and after galleries of many of the procedures they offer. Some Plastic Surgeons may only offer these photo galleries in the privacy of their office, which may be viewed upon a consultation. However, for the most part, you can at least get an idea of the kind of results which may be achieved through the plastic surgery procedure you are considering.
You will want to keep in mind, however, that every patient is different. Each comes in with a different set of challenges, needs and desires and good Plastic Surgeons then create a corresponding plan, catered to these specific challenges, needs and desires so that your results will be individual and specific to you. Great Plastic Surgeons can create beautiful, natural-looking results for all their patients.

It can be hard to know if the Plastic Surgeon you are considering shares your vision for beauty. One of the easiest ways to determine this, however, is by viewing your prospective Plastic Surgeon’s before and after photo gallery. This gallery showcases some of a Plastic Surgeon’s previous patient’s who’ve undergone all or some of the procedures they offer. By viewing the photo gallery, you can determine if you would be happy with the results you see. You’ll need to take into account as you browse, however, that every patient comes in with a different set of needs, goals and challenges- which are likely different from your own. Still, if you feel you would be happy with a majority of the outcomes achieved, that may be a good sign that that Plastic Surgeon may be able to achieve the results you seek.
You’re next step is setting up your consultation with that Plastic Surgeon. We would like to invite you to view our Before and After Photo Gallery! If you like the results you see, contact our office and schedule your consultation.

PIP implant removal
The PIP breast implant manufactured by the now defunct French company, Poly Implant Prosthese, has been surrounded by scandal and controversy over the past two years. It was discovered that the company had been fraudulent about their manufacturing process, while manufacturing these implants with non-medical grade silicone. This was at one time the third leading manufacturer of silicone breast implants and some 300,000 women worldwide are affected by this information. Fortunately, the implants were never FDA approved in the U.S. and women in the U.S. would have had to have the implants placed elsewhere or used without approval.
These implants are found to have a very high rupture rate as much as 5 – 10 x that of silicone implants used in the U.S. The type of silicone used in these implants has not been studied to determine its safety if there is a rupture. For this reason, there has been a general consensus that women with these implants should have them removed with replacement of approved implants as desired.
